When will my child have homework?

Every school day except Friday.

What will my child have for homework each night, and how long will it take?

Homework should take no more than 20 minutes to complete. Each night, there will be spelling practice, a math review, and a fluency passage.

How will homework be sent home?

Students will receive their homework packet in their mailbox on Monday (or the first school day of the week).

How will homework be graded?

I will check homework for effort and completion.

Will homework affect the grade on the report card?

No. In 2nd grade, homework is not factored into the ELA, math, science, or social studies grades. However, they will receive a separate overall homework score each quarter on a scale of 4 (almost always returns homework) to 0 (never returns homework). This score will be based on effort and completion, not correctness.

How will homework be returned to school?

Students will put their homework in a designated homework basket each Friday. I will accept it the next week if you need additional time.
