Philosophy of Education
Every student can learn.
Every student learns differently. Tests are standardized; students are not.
Mistakes are learning opportunities. It is better for students to make mistakes than to stop trying.
Learning should be meaningful and connected to students’ experiences and background knowledge.
A well-rounded education includes academic, social, and emotional development.
Students learn best when they are engaged and interested.
Rewards and punishments may change a child's behavior in the short-term, but, in the long-term, they are not effective tools for motivating students to learn or become good people.
Grades measure a student's knowledge of a specific skill (or set of skills) at a particular moment. They are not accurate measures of a student's overall intelligence.
Parents are a child's first and most important teachers. Having an open, positive relationship between school and home is extremely important.
